Joanna Sands graduated from Maidstone College of Art in 1986 and took her M.A at Chelsea School of Art in 1987. In 1989 she received a D.A.A.D scholarship to study in Berlin. She is the recipient of several grants and awards including a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant and the Woo Foundation Award. Sands has exhibited widely in the UK and Germany and lives and works in London.
